The Helix Brief

Factors influencing the transition time from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis: a real-world multicenter analysis.

Uncover the factors behind the transition from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis - from scalp psoriasis to family history, these insights can help identify high-risk patients and enable earlier intervention for better long-term outcomes.
This real-world, multicenter study examined the clinical and demographic predictors associated with the timing of transition from psoriasis (PsO) to psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Among 799 patients, 70.3% had a prolonged transition, with an average interval of 12.9 years. Factors like scalp/nail psoriasis, family history of PsO, and enthesitis were linked to a longer transition, while family history of PsA and older PsO onset age predicted a shorter transition. Recognizing these markers can support timely referral and intervention, minimizing diagnostic delay and improving long-term patient outcomes. Limitations include the observational design and potential regional differences in the study population.
